Foxconn VP Headlines Academies of Racine Professional Learning

Racine Unified high school teachers got the opportunity to hear from Dr. Bill Mitchell, Vice President of Foxconn during professional development on Friday.

Dr. Mitchell spoke to the staff about the importance of maintaining a positive attitude.

“The single greatest contributing factor to the success of students is the relationships teachers have with one another,” Dr. Mitchell told the group.

Foxconn announced earlier this month they will be building a $10 billion production plant in Mount Pleasant. The plant will be the Taiwanese company's main U.S. operation for making and distributing LCD screens.

During his talk, Dr. Mitchell focused on the Academies of Racine and highlighted the benefits of student internships, apprenticeships and co-op opportunities.

“Kids who graduate high school with hands on experience go to the front of the line,” Dr. Mitchell said.

Dr. Mitchell ended his talk thanking RUSD’s high school teachers for all they do every day to make a difference.
