All dogs 5 month or older must be licensed in the Village by December 31st of each year. A late fee of $5.00 will be charged after March 31.
Proof of vaccination must be provided and include the date given, manufacturer and lot number.
Fees are waived for Authorized Sight or Helping Dogs
Altered Dog: $15.00
Unaltered Dog: $25.00
Altered Puppy: $7.50
Unaltered Puppy: $12.50
License may be obtained to keep up to 12 dogs in an outside kennel provided the property is zoned Agricultural. New kennel licenses require inspection and approval by the Humane Officer, and approval of the Committee of the Whole. Kennel licenses are renewed yearly, and require yearly inspection by the Humane Officer.
License may be obtained to keep up to five dogs if the property is at least one acre, and seven dogs if your property is at least three acres. All dogs must be housed overnight indoors. New Fancier’s Licenses require inspection and approval by the Humane Officer and approval of the Committee of the Whole. Fancier's Permits are renewed yearly.
Do I need a license to foster dogs?
Rescue groups and animal shelters are treated the same. Both must be licensed if they shelter at least 25 dogs per year, whether it is one central shelter or in foster facilities. Licenses are obtained through DATCP.
