Dog Licenses

When do I need to license my dog?

All dogs 5 month or older must be licensed in the Village by December 31st of each year.   April 1st, a late fee of $5.00 will be charged. 
Proof of vaccination must be provided and include the date given, manufacturer and lot number.

  • Altered Dog: $15.00

  • Unaltered Dog: $25.00

  • Authorized Sight or Helping Dogs fees are waived

 

Kennel License: License may be obtained to keep up to 12 dogs in an outside kennel provided the property is zoned Agricultural. New Kennel Licenses require approval by the Humane Officer and the License and Legislative Committee. Kennel licenses are renewed yearly.

Fancier’s License: License may be obtained to keep up to five dogs if your parcel is at least one acre and seven dogs may be kept if your parcel is at least 3 acres. All dogs must be housed overnight indoors. New Fancier’s Licenses require approval by the Humane Officer and the License and Legislative Committee. This license is also renewed yearly.

Do I need a license to foster dogs?

Rescue groups and animal shelters are treated the same.  Both must be licensed if they shelter atleast 25 dogs per year, whether it is one central shelter or in foster facilities.  Licenses are obtained through DATCP.
