Property Taxes
Taxes can be paid in full, or in two installments, without penalty or interest, as long as the 1st installment is paid on time.

Payments
1. Pay Online by Credit Card or Electronic Check
For instructions on how to use the Property Tax Search (Ascent Land Records Suite) website and how to make payments, visit the Racine County Treasurer's website (linked below).
Starting December 1, 2025 the following service fees apply for online payment options: $1.50 for E-Checks and 2.5% of the transaction amount for credit card payments and 2.5% for debit card payments.
2. By Mail or drop box
Please include the appropriate payment stub from your tax bill and mail it with your check to the address on the payment stub.
For your security and outs, please do not send cash.
Please check the legibility and accuracy when writing out personal checks. We may not be able to process your payment if the check amount is incorrect or not legible.
Escrow checks must be endorsed by all parties. Escrow checks that aren't endorsed or signed will be returned.
If you would like a receipt mailed to you, please include a large, self addressed, postage paid envelope. Otherwise, you can access and print your own receipt online after the payment is posted.
With the exceptions listed below, all payments will be credited on the date received.
- Payments postmarked on or before December 31 will be recorded as being paid before the end of the year.
- Payments in the drop box at Village Hall by 8:00am on Friday, January 2, 2026 will be recorded as being paid before the end of the year.
- Payments postmarked January 1 or after will be recorded as being paid in the new year.
Should questions of delinquency arise; the date of the postmark by the U.S. Postal Service will be deemed final, not the date on the check.
3. In Person
Payments can be made in person at the Caledonia Village Hall, 5043 Chester Ln, during posted office hours.
My Tax Bill
Use Racine County's "Ascent Land Records Suite" to check the status of a property tax payment, print a copy of your tax bill, or print a copy of your property tax payment receipt.
Lottery and Gaming Credit
You are entitled to a lottery credit on your property taxes if, as of January 1st of the year of the tax bill, you were the owner of the property and it was used as your primary residence. Rental properties are not eligible for credits.
The Lottery and Gaming Credit application is submitted to the County or Municipal Treasurer, depending on the time of the year. You can also submit the application online with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue at any time (linked below).
Alcohol Licenses
Retail Alcohol Licenses
Please call or email the Clerk's office for application information and instructions.
- Class A Retail Licenses are for off-site consumption (liquor/convenience store, grocery store, etc.)
- Class "A" beer only
- Class "A" liquor, beer and wine.
- Class B Retail Licenses are for on-site consumption (bars and restaurants)
- Class "B" beer only
- Class "B" liquor, beer, and wine (state quota laws apply)
- Class C Retail Licenses are for on-site consumption (bars and restaurants)
- Wine only
Additional licenses available to Retail Alcohol License holders include Non-Intoxicating Beverage License (to sell NA beer) and Special Event Permit (to hold outdoor events with amplified music).
Alcohol beverage "producers" may submit applications for approval of a Full Service Retail Outlet to the Village Clerk.
Miscellaneous Alcohol Licenses
- Temporary Alcohol Beverage License
- To obtain a license to temporarily sell beer and wine you must be a bona fide club, association, lodge, or society. A copy of your organization's by-laws is required. Only two (2) wine licenses can be issued per year. Beer only licenses are unlimited.
- Forms AB-100 and AB-101 are required for the Event Manager/Agent. Agent must have a current WI Responsible Beverage Server's course certificate (good for 2 years) or be a licensed Operator (bartender). Either the Agent or a Village of Caledonia licensed Operator/bartender must be present at the event at all times.
- License fee is $10 plus record check fee.
- Operator License
- This license authorizes the holder to serve and sell alcohol beverages within the Village of Caledonia at properly licensed establishments.
- Background check is required.
- Must have completed the WI Responsible Beverage Server's course within the last 2 years and provide the course certificate, or hold a current, valid Operator license issued by another municipality in Wisconsin.
- License fee is $40 and includes the cost of a record check.
Animal Licenses and Permits
Dog Licenses
- All dogs more than 5 months of age must be licensed.
- No more than 3 dogs may be licensed per household, except by applying for a Dog Fancier's permit, or Kennel License.
- Must show proof of rabies vaccination.
- Unaltered dogs are $25/year, and neutered or spayed dogs are $15/year.
- The licensing year is from January 1st to December 31st. Licenses renewed on or after April 1st will be charged a late fee of $5.
Dog Fancier's Permit
- Allows the holder to have up to 5 dogs.
- Parcel must be at least 1 acre.
- Must show proof of rabies vaccination.
- Each dog must be individually licensed, plus $50 permit fee annually.
Dog Kennel License
- Allows the holder to have up to 12 dogs.
- Parcel may not be zoned residential.
- Inspections and conditions apply.
- Must show proof of rabies vaccination.
- Permit fee is $100 annually, January 1st to December 31st.
Keeping of Hens Permit
- Allows the holder to keep up to 5 hens on parcels less than 5 acres, and up to 33 hens for parcels greater than 5 acres.
- Parcel must be zoned single-family residential with an occupied single-family dwelling on it.
- Commercial use is prohibited.
- Roosters are prohibited.
- Permit fee is $100 for a new permit, and $50/year for renewals.
- Licensing year is January 1st to December 31st.
Events/Sales Permits and Licenses
Direct Sellers License
- This license is required for door-to-door solicitations.
- The Village maintains a Do Not Solicit Registry that all license holders must adhere and abide by.
- Permit fee is $50 and includes the cost of the record check and ID badge.
Cigarette and Tobacco License
- This license is required for any cigarette, tobacco, and electronic vaping device sales. Call or email the Clerk's office for more information and instructions on how to apply.
- Permit fee is $100 plus record check fees.
Special Event Permit
- For Class B Retail License holders only.
- This permit is required for an alcohol licensed premise to hold outdoor events with amplified music.
- Minimum permit fee of $150. Each additional event is $10 with a maximum yearly permit fee of $300.
Festival Permit
- This permit is required for any event with 750 people or more in attendance.
- Permit fee is $100.
- Additional permits, licenses, or inspections may be required. Contact the Clerk's office for additional information and instructions.
Street Use Permit
- This permit is required for event street closures, such as block parties.
- Must have signed approval from 60% of affected residents.
- Permit fee is $25.
Firework Sales Permit
- This permit is required to sell fireworks. The kinds of fireworks allowed for sale are restricted by ordinance and are listed on the application.
- A conditional use permit must be obtained from the Zoning Department before applying for this permit.
- Permit fee is $50
Fireworks Display Permit
- This permit is required to hold a fireworks show and may only be issued to a public authority, park board, fair association, civic organization, amusement park or agricultural producer.
- Permit fee is $200.
Amplifying Device Permit
- This permit is required for outdoor music events that do not fall under the Special Event permit. Example, outdoor party at a private residence.
- There is no permit fee.
- This application should be submitted to the Caledonia Police Department, not the Clerk's office.
